The Fort Awesome Project is a proposal for guerrilla-style insertions of small-scale public children’s play ‘frameworks’ along private/ public boundary lines within our urban environment.
OUR MISSION: This project seeks to use the catalyst of ‘play’ as a mobilizer of social connectedness; it seeks to plant seeds for a family-led social change; to actively celebrate our children’s inhabitation of our built environment and to facilitate a unique cultural platform whereby artists, architects or designers can contribute to our streets.
Comments from our January 2019 Artist-In-Residency at the Maroochy Bushland Arts and Ecology centre:
“Oh wow, this is amazing.”
“Gosh, I have this at home, maybe I could make this too.”
“This is beautiful.”
“Can we play?”
“This is inspiring.”
“This.. and this story, …is really something.”
“I love what you have done here, it is so appealing, so inviting.”
“Mum, I want this at home”.
“Dad, can you make one like this at home?”
“I want to live in here. This one is mine and this one is yours…”
